  • Job title: Intern
  • University and course: University of Westminster, BA Business Studies.

I first heard about Enterprise Rent-A-Car through a presentation at my university. I remember thinking it sounded a bit too good to be true - getting to spend my placement year learning how to run my own business and even have the chance of promotion. But I looked into it and discovered that was exactly what I could expect. And I haven't been disappointed.

Before I even got the job I was able to visit a branch and see what the role would involve. I met the branch and area managers and their enthusiasm for Enterprise started rubbing off on me straight away. So I was really pleased when I found out I got the job.

From my first day I was treated as one of the team. I got all the same training and development opportunities as the graduates who had joined at the same time, and got to start working through my management development manual with them. My role included everything from taking on the day-to-day running of the business to helping develop the team and playing my part in growing the business for the future. I quickly found that my strengths lay in sales and relationship building. So I was able to work on those and demonstrate my progress by generating extra income for my branch.

The best thing about my placement has been that I've learnt real business skills, and it's been great to see the impact my involvement with the company has had. During my placement year I completed my training manual, so I'm now a qualified trainee. I'm still working part-time at Enterprise, and I'm really pleased to have been invited to join the team permanently once I finish my studies.
