Bonjour Laurent! Could you talk us through your experiences with Enterprise Rent-A-Car?
To be honest, I thought I'd end up working in the wine industry, promoting French wine abroad. But the chance to run my own business, manage a team, get promoted fast and make money along the way proved too good to miss.
I used to think Enterprise Rent-A-Car was only a small company outside of the USA , and I had trouble seeing how excited I could get about car rental. Turns out, I was wrong. It's a huge company, and the work's anything but boring. The days whip past, and I'm constantly busy with marketing, promotions, training and development, creating a sales environment and making sure the rest of the team are having as much fun as I am. How could anyone get bored?
It helps that this is a company that cares about its customers, its people and the community at large. And everyone here seems to get on really well - people are always willing to help out. The customers are fun too, like the customer who rents a van once a week from me - he speaks French and thinks we're fantastic. And who am I to disagree?
Another thing I like about being here is the speed at which things seem to change. I'm now responsible for a team of thirty people as well as the performance of my branches. Plus, being promoted to Area Manager and moving back to Dublin was great too. But I've also changed - I'm much better at dealing with pressure, and I feel more relaxed than ever.
Looking at the future, it's hard to say what will change. I'm sure we could improve on our fantastic 91% customer satisfaction rating if we just bought more French cars! And I think I'd like to help build up Enterprise's business back home in France. But one thing's for sure - at least I won't have to wait until berets are back in fashion before I get my next promotion.
